Large industries drive the economy of any given community. A particular industry may be prominent in a small city or town, employing most of the residents there. In addition, one industry may dominate an entire state or region of the country. However, because the United States is largely urbanized, employment by industry within the country is quite diverse. Employment By IndustryOn this page, customers will find that they can easily browse employment by occupation and employment by industry data compiled from the United States Census Bureau during the 2010 Census. This data showcases the prevalence of particular industries in each individual state. For instance, a client can quickly find which industry is most relevant in the state of Michigan as well as which industry is the least developed. This data is especially useful when conducting research about job positions, because it gives a better context about the top industries and occupations in each state.

The employment by industry chart below has the top growing industry in each individual state, allowing clients to easily understand the job market in a given region. For instance, health care may be the top industry in a particular state, and clients will be able to understand that there is significant growth and plenty of job opportunities in that particular industry within the state.
